Coming up to my house, I made a chalk Heart trail for guests to follow...

Guests wrote a love note to baby and dropped it in the mail box...

One the invitation, it also suggested everyone bring 1 to 2 yards of white ribbon or lace to create this beautiful chandelier to hang over the babies bed. By the end of the night, it was so full and beautiful. I'll have to post the finished creation when it gets hung.

The party was so much fun and I loved being able to give back to such a giving lady!

My little baby is growing up! She literally has only 2 more inches and she will be my same height and she can already fit into my shoes!! This last month she was gone every Friday night doing something fun. This is just the start of her becoming more and more independent. I feel like I'm missing her already.

She is in choir at school, this is right before leaving for her performance.

She turned 11!!! Dad took her to Disneyland with some friends! She is now counting down until she turns 12! I am holding onto everyday as it seems to race by.

She is taking a hip hop and ballet class and had a performance recently.

This is her first year doing basketball. She is loving it and has some long arms that work great for stealing the ball.

Chaz gets to hang out with all the other little brothers and cause mischief.

A Family Baby Shower

I have been busy switching the kids rooms, making crib bedding, blankets, decorating onesies and burp cloths. Having a girl is so much fun!! We are almost ready for her! Counting down the days!!

Chris's Surf School

Chris taught the kids to surf at the end of the summer. Doheny was a great place to learn since the waves are so small and the water is shallow. They loved it and stayed in the water for hours.

A pelican hung out with us for a few minutes one day. It was really weird and amazing. He stood there for about 15 minuets and didn't move. Every once in a while he would open his mouth and spread his wings. Then finally he just flew away.

Camp Cousins @ Mimi and Papa's

To sum up all the fun...there was music with Mimi and 2 concerts, Birch Aquarium, the beach, horseback riding, Mormon Battalion, swimming, a movie night in the back yard, a visit to an organic garden and so many more great memories!!

After the Baptism...

Everyone came back to our house for donuts{from Krisy Kreme}, milk of every kind, juice, sweet and savory bagels with some yummy types of cream cheese {fresh from Bagels and Brew} and fruit. It was such an easy party, I didn't have to cook one thing, just decorate, that's my favorite part!

Chaz got Baptized!!!

We had been preparing for the last year for Chaz to get baptized. When he turned 7 we asked him what he thought about getting baptized when he turned 8 next year. He told us, "No way, I'm not getting baptized." So after attending as many baptisms as we could and having many family nights on getting baptized and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, he knew what it was all about and was so ready to make those covenants with Heavenly Father. It was special to watch a change come over him and then finally say, "I think I want to be baptized." Chaz does things on his own time, sometimes it is so difficult as a his mom to just be the teacher and support. Getting baptized was Chaz's choice and we are so proud of him for deciding to do what we know to be one of the first steps in returning back to our Heavenly Father. Way to go Chaz!!

So the invitations went out {thanks to my sweet friend Abi} ...

We asked our family to be apart of it. I wish I could have recorded the talks and songs, it was so perfect for Chaz! Thank you so much for all of your help making this day so great for Chaz!!

The highlight might have been that his cousin Jace came. The tears that came when Jace got back on the plane for Utah were heart breaking. Chaz loves his cousin Jace! I love watching them grow up, I can just see them going on their missions and college together! Exciting to think about what the future holds for these two!!

So blessed to have the love of tons of friends and family there to share Chaz's special day with us. This was on the sign in table. My friend was sweet enough to make it for Chaz. It was fun to read all the little messages, I think my favorite was from his Primary teacher it said, Stay clam enough to listen to the Spirit. It made me laugh, was a perfect message for Chaz :)

I got asked to be on the Relief Society Activity Board at church. The first this we are planning is a Back to School night... the inspiration is from {here} on Sugardoodle. I was in charge of the posters and invitations. I thought they turned out cute. Can't wait for the big night, should be tons of fun!!

100 invites!!! We better have a good turn out, I think I got arthritis in my thumb from all the cutting :)

Beach Days with Dave

We have been spending a ton of time at the beach, especially when David was here. We feel so blessed living close to so much beauty. Some highlights have been...spending time with family, being in perfect weather, hanging out at the beach, seeing dolphins, playing in the ocean, riding on the Laguna Beach trolley to all the yummy spots in Laguna, eating tons of yogurt at Yogurt Land. It has been such a great summer so far!!!

Some of the more beautiful water is in Laguna, it's so clear! Laguna is full of small coves of great beaches. One of the most beautiful ones is Treasure Island in front of the Montage, the water is turquoise!

Chaz turns 8!

Chaz's birthday was the last day of school this year. It also is the year he gets baptized!!

First, we woke up to the breakfast he requested the night before...bacon, donuts and strawberry milk!

Then off to the last day of school in the car Mom decorated :)

After school we headed to the beach with Uncle David and a few friends!

Then we went home and jumped in the pool to rinse off before...

Opening presents and heading to Chaz's favorite place for dinner, In & Out. Chaz record at In & Out is 3 cheeseburgers, a shake and fries! He is crazy for cheeseburgers!! For dessert we went to Baskin Robbins for our families favorite, bubble gum ice cream! I love to party with Chaz, he is so easy to please. It was a great day!!

Harry Houdini

For the last 2nd grade performance of the year, Chaz's class honored America. They dressed up, sang songs and everyone said their own memorized poem of the famous American they had done a report on. Chaz picked Harry Houdini.

The best part of it all was that Uncle David came into town just in time. I missed him too much after visiting him in GA that I convinced him to come hang out with us in beautiful CA for awhile!! Shaina and Chaz where thrilled!

Father's Day

Shaina was Shirley Temple. Every fourth grader picked a famous American, did a report on them and dressed up as their person. The room was set up like a wax museum. When you rang their bell or pushed their finger they would tell you a memorized speech about their American. It was so creative and fun for an open house! Mimi, Papa and Grandma Yvett came to see.

We are getting ready for Chaz's 8th birthday and a baptism so, we needed some handsome pictures. With Chaz's patience I had 15 minutes to run around this beautiful college and shoot whatever he gave me. Looking at these pictures makes me feel so luck to be this cuties mom. He can always make me laugh and melts me with how loving he is. Heavenly Father knew we needed a Chaz in this family. I love this boy like crazy!!

Shaina's Book Club

The new book for this month was...

The girls had so much fun! We ate pizza, of course and then had dirt with worms for dessert. We chatted about the book and watched the movie, with the works...tons of candy and popcorn. We compared the movie to the book and then played with some real worms and even cooked one up, with the girls creating their own worm recipe. After the poor worm was boiled in every ingredient in the fridge, they felt bad for the poor worm and scooped it up and had a burial service before they left for the night. I want a book club for me :)

We went to Mimi's and Papa's for Easter this year. It all started with the kids picking up bunny poop {Raisinets} leading to their baskets...

After baskets cousins filled the house and Mimi made a fabulous brunch!

Then it was outside for tons of games and an Easter egg hunt!

The Dads sat around teaching my husband all the i phone tricks. I have a love/hate relationship with that phone!!

Mimi covered the kids in plastic bags and they had a final egg toss! It was a great day and we are so grateful for a Mimi and Papa that make holidays so much fun!!

Bow Ties!!!

My friend told me to check out Burlington Coat Factory for Easter Sunday Clothes for boys and I had a bow tie in mind for Chaz to wear for Easter. They had nothing in the bow tie department but had GREAT deals on men's ties. The pink tie was $2! I turned men's ties into velcro bow ties for Chaz! He loved them and I loved how easy and cheap this little project was!!

This is what I get when I interrupt Chaz playing with his friends to model a bow tie! He has me peeing my pants laughing!!!

Circus Cake

Chaz did so great and was so fast! The sweetest thing was that when he was done he just hung around me holding my hand, which is so not Chaz. He has a special way of showing his love for his Mama. Like when I drop him off at school and he never leaves without a hung and a kiss and when he is walking away he looks back a dozen times to wave and give me that killer smile that melts my heart. At parent teacher conference I always here about the smile, he says it's his "smolder".

Mom's Secret Confession... I didn't have any cash so I had to borrow from Chaz 's piggy bank to pay him for his Kool-Aid. Wow, I am bad!!!

Shaina's Book Club

Thanks to a friends suggestion my neighbor and I started a Book Club for our girls. The first book we did was Little House in the Big Woods. The girls loved the book and had a great time at book club making corn husk dolls, soap, watching the show, eating old fashion treats and jump roping. These are the invitation {a bonnet} and book marker {old fashion taffy} that I made...

Such a great group of girls!!!

Shaina and Sarah Jane dressed up like Laura and Mary and quizzed the girls on the book.

They each got to take home a jump rope too! We host next time... can't wait!

These garlands hung all round the house. I got the idea from my friend, Brit. She did them for Christmas. They are too cute and I'm excited to find an excuse to use them again :)

Palm Springs

We went to Palm Spring over the weekend to go to Olivia's Baptism and Jenni's 30th birthday. We rode the tram and got to hangout and play in the snow, went to Ruby's for dinner, woke up and went to Olivia's baptism, had a yummy lunch and visited while the kids swam then went to dinner at Mimi's Cafe to celebrate Jenni's 30th Birthday.

Cub Scouts {Blue & Gold Banquet}

We had the Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts. I wasn't in charge which made it even more fun. All I had to do was bake a cake that was auctioned off, do a few decorations, help my Wolfs come up with a skit and bake some garlic bread. The boys told some jokes for there skit. My favorite was...

Zoo Day

We were doggie sitters for the best dog I have ever been around, ZOEY!!!! So sweet, never barked, potty trained and just perfect. Hate to give her back and I'm not even a animal lover. We fell for her, bad :(

The best things about Cub Scouts are...

There is a book to follow and all I have to do is what is in the book, easy!

The boys are right at my pace, keeping things short and to the point.

There is no sitting around...we are always moving.

I get to enjoy Sundays.

Chaz is coming into Cub Scouts this year along with 9 other guys!

By the end of the year it's going to be exciting!!

Halloween 2010

I had just started packing when Halloween hit, so we went into the costume box to pull a few costumes out. Shaina loved it, we had 3 parties to go to and she dressed up in something different for each one. Chaz stuck with the skeleton, which he said wasn't scary enough and cried when I wouldn't let him bring the Grim Reaper scythe.

Mini vacation to...Palm Springs

The Gines have moved to Palm Springs!!! We are so excited to have more family in California and their house it so great! Before the fun of moving them in Chris, the kids and I got to get away to this amazing resort...

Where do I start...they have a kids pool area that has a lazy river, water slides, a sand beach, an adult pool and a large fire pit. There is kids golfing and golfing for the dads. All their rooms have great views, ours look out over the golf course. Because it was a holiday, they had a carnival night on the golf course green, right up against a lake. There was a giant outdoor movie screen and they pulled up a ton of golf carts for families to watch the movie in under the stars. The carnival had fun games with prizes, a jump house, great food. The resort, most importantly is right by tons of restaurants and shopping. It's such a great place for a quick get away. We found a new labor day tradition! Rancho Las Palmas for labor day!

We ended our night at the great...

Chaz fell asleep, woke up to eat and then went back to sleep...which made for a very mellow dinner ;)

Grandma Nana, in town!

My Mom came for a visit us after dropping my little brother off at BYU and we had such a great time with our wonderful Grandma Nana! She spoiled us with her love and we are missing her like crazy!! My Mom is such a wonderful example to me of a strong, loving, beautiful lady. My favorite part about her is that she knows how to give a compliment and does often. She is always telling me what a great mother, wife and daughter I am and how she is the luckiest women to have such great kids. Well... I think I am the luckiest person in the world to have a Mom like her. I love you, Mom.

Back 2 School

School is on! We did a family tradition of a pizza dinner at school the night before and made sure the kids knew where their classes were....

Then off they went the next day! The only tears were from Chaz, he was sad that this year Shaina moved to the big kids play ground and he was going to miss her. Crazy, because they act like they hate each other half the time, but really can't live without one another.

They had a great first week of school. Shaina and Chaz got some of the best teachers in the school! It's our lucky year!!

On the way home from the beach the other day I saw a shop that sold old boating stuff and I made Chris turn around. In barrels outside there was giant old sailing maps for 1.99. Just what I was looking for to fill an old thrift frame. Wish I could paint or wall paper in my rental, these maps would be awesome to cover a wall in. Might have to break some rules soon;)

Highlights~ Shaina lost a tooth, Chaz catching enormous beetles, games by the camp fire, great weather, relaxing at the beach, sleeping on a comfy air matress {Chris and I both looked at each other the first night we went to bed and said, WOW this is better than our bed at home. Time for a new bed}!

I started a new job which I love, but it has left me with trying to balance life and that means blogging has been put to the side. Too many good times since then...

School ended

Chaz turned 7! His birthday favorites were his shark cake Mimi made, a new surf board, a bike ramp and 2 of Papa's most wanted Balance Bars that Chaz is always trying to sneak.

Activity Days...Developing Talents #6

This week we had a Back To School Night activity. We had a Sister from the ward who is a hair dresser come by and teach us new hair styles for school. We passed off Developing Talents, Goal #6 which is about proving personal study habits and we talked about making new friends and including others. It was another great night and all the girls walked away with a cool new hair do.

I also gave them lunch bags with treats and a special personalized note from me inside.

I read this story from The Friend called Making A Friends...very cute story, it brought me to tears.

I had them practice taking notes on our discussion on how to improve study habits on this...

Activity Days...Developing Talents #3

Here is a fun activities we just did... We didn't have activities for most of the summer so to end the summer I did a Back Yard Camp Out {without the sleep over part}

We passed off Developing Talent Goal #3, which was to write a short story or play that teaches a gospel principle. They picked names from a bag and got into groups of 3. They made up their plays and then we had all of their performances on our back yard stage, lit up by tiki torches. I also borrowed a fire pit and we roasted marshmallows for smores. One of the Young Women from church came by to teach us some girls camp songs. It was a blast!

I was at the dollar store today and found these games for the kids. They love them and I was extra excited because the games regularly cost $10 each and I got levels 1 through 4 for $4! Now that's deal!

My kids love to be quizzed on anything...this game comes with a deck of cards with tons of questions with two answerer's given.

example: Who's portrait is on a nickel? Thomas Jefferson or Thomas the Tank Engine

The object of the game is to give the wrong answer {which they also love doing } If they give the wrong answer they get it right and get a point and I say "That's Right, That's Wrong" They are learning something and having fun!

This game is so great for when you are out to dinner, in the car, waiting for an appointment...basically anytime that you are needing to help keep the kids busy while waiting for something. We used it in the dentist office while Chaz was waiting for his turn in the chair. It has saved be a few times now! I love this game! Thank you Dollar store!

Tuesday nights I have a hot date with my couch... as Shaina would say:) All my guilty feeling for sitting on my butt for hours get thrown out the window when I am dancing and jumping on my couch like a crazy woman to Glee's "Jessie's Girl" last week, can I get a Amen! {while Chris is rolling his eyes} here is my most anticipated night of the week!!! For May and June I am doing a Babysitting Club series of activities to help the girls learn how to be a great babysitter. At the end of the series we are going having a free babysitting night at our ward. The girls are so excited...me too. Can't wait to post more!

I was spoiled this Mother's Day as always. Chaz sang to me at school. Shaina spent days on a beautiful card she made and Chris completed the long list I left for him when I went away for the weekend.

The Romney/Gines girls had their first annual girls trip at Newport Beach. We got massages, biked along the beach, ate at the best restaurants and shopped! It was a perfect trip!!

We took the ferry from Balboa Island to New Port where we rented our pink beach bikes.

We had Kelly and Christina join us at The Cannery, the food was amazing! My mouth is still watering thinking about it!!

On Friday we get home from school and Shaina says, "Mom I have a date!"

I say, "A WHAT!"

Shaina says, "A date with the couch. Couch meet Butt, Butt meet couch."

She plops down on the couch and says, "Awwww, it's love!"

She probably got this from some tv show, but it had me laughing...

Chaz had a little girl from school over to play and we are in the car driving home from getting some dinner...

They are in the back seat together and I look back to see them starring into each others eyes.

I say, "Chaz what are you doing back there?"

Chaz says, "Mom, I'm trying to get her addicted to me!"

I thing he was meaning to say that he was trying to hypnotize her, but either way I was a little worried and cracking up!

I tried to steer clear of the mall today, but had to get my phone re-programed and the Verizon expert told be to be back in 20 min. That is very dangerous thing to say to a lady with a shopping addiction so I did as I was told and went to forever 21 for only 20 min. and found some things I had to share. I also had to go to Walmart to pick up a few things and ended up finding some things there too. I need an intervention. These clothes and shoes and jewelry and bags/purses call my name when I am around them. It starts with just browsing and then I just can't stop...

Shaina is learning cursive. I love to watch her write. It's like watching an artist at work. She goes very slow and perfects each letter. So cute! Wish I could get it as a font!
